The NACG Halal Certification Standard defines the requirements for certifying food, beverages, products, ingredients, and services as halal-compliant in accordance with Islamic dietary and ethical principles.

Animal-Derived (Conditionally Permissible)

The Rule: The animal species is halal-permissible when animal slaughter is conducted according to recognized halal principles, including: invocation at time of slaughter, humane method intended to minimize suffering, and proper draining of blood.

The Enforcement: This is performed by a qualified halal butcher or halal-compliant facility in which full documentation and traceability are available.

Examples: Halal-slaughtered meat, halal-derived gelatin, dairy from halal-permissible animals, and compliant enzymes or additives.

Plant-Based & Non-Animal

The Rule: Fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, plant oils and extracts, synthetic or mineral ingredients not derived from prohibited sources.

The Nuance (Important): Fermented ingredients where intoxicating alcohol is not present or retained.

Seafood

The Rule: Most seafood is considered halal under widely accepted interpretations, provided processing and handling remain halal-compliant.
